"Smaller, more effective government...for the people...by the people"
What is a Precinct?
A
precinct is the lowest-level minor civil division in the United States. Precincts are not individually governed. But, for the purposes of government,
precincts represent a sector of citizens living within a certain boundary
inside a city, county, or township. For
the purposes of elections, a precinct represents the specific location of a
polling station where citizens within the respective boundary go to vote in an
election.
According
to a national survey, the average precinct in the United States represents
approximately 1,100 voters.
What is a Precinct Captain?
A Precinct Captain is an individual who
acts as a liaison between the party machine and the voters in a specific voting
precinct. A Precinct Captain helps
register voters and helps get out the vote on election day.
